On Thursday 28th and Friday 29th March, the Cool Farm Alliance held the 2019 Annual Conference – it was the biggest to date, with 110 attendees over the two days. The conference provided an engaging opportunity for Alliance members, partners and our broader community to collaborate, share ideas and best practices for sustainable agriculture metrics and action.
This year’s event was once again hosted at Robinson College, Cambridge University, and brought together some of the key players in sustainable agriculture, and highlighted the value the Cool Farm Tool can bring to help growers measure and drive reductions in their environmental impacts.
Through a series of presentations, workshops and discussions we shared opportunities and challenges facing the Alliance and its members. Member case studies showing results from using the CFT in their supply chains were presented by Mars Petcare, Danone and PepsiCo. Smaller workshop sessions explored a range of topics including soil carbon sequestration and accounting; GIS data integration; the new CFT food loss and waste metrics; and our partnership with the GeoFootprint project.
We would like to thank everyone who attended for their enthusiasm and contributions. We also welcomed the positive feedback reveived on the event, and taking this on board will design next year’s session to include more time for networking, and to bring the farmers into the discussions. We look forward to our ongoing dialogue over the coming year, and please look out for the dates for next year which will be released in the near future.
All the best Richard & Daniella.
