When it comes to agricultural climate change mitigation, it is clear that this needs to be the decade of action. Evidence of increasing environmental pressure on our natural systems, increasing consumer and political awareness of the climate emergency is leading to increased efforts to mitigate climate change and adapt to our changing world.
This year’s conference will be an historic opportunity to launch this decade of action together and to learn from each other, be inspired by each other and co-create the direction for the this next decade. We will hear the latest on the Alliance and the Cool Farm Tool, and set forth our priorities for catalysing sustainable agriculture at scale.
Pre-Meeting: (31st March) Closed except to prearranged, CFA Committee members.
Day 1: (1st April) CFA Members only with a primary focus on:
- CFA & CFT review of achievements.
- CFA and members’ strategy to achieve our ambition.
- Formal CFA AGM.
- Day 1: CFA Dinner (Members and Guests)
Day 2: (2nd April) open meeting available to anyone:
- Kicking off the Decade of Action.
- Momentum of the Cool Farm Tool.
- CFT on the farm and the enabling environment for change.
- Interactive workshop sessions (see below).
Day 2: Workshops:

This year’s annual meeting will be held at Rothamsted Enterprises Conference Centre, part of the Rothamsted Research facility.
WiFi will be available for all delegates throughout the event.
Directions to Rothamstead Research Conference Centre:
By Road: Harpenden is about 7 miles north of the M25 London Orbital Motorway and close to Junctions 9/10 of the M1. From the M1:
– Take J9, follow the signs to Redbourn;
– Go past the Hertfordshire County Showground on your right;
– At the roundabout take the first exit (left) and follow the B487 until the next roundabout;
– At the roundabout take the first exit (left) onto the A1081, Rothamsted.
Enterprises is signposted on your left.
By Rail: Harpenden is 28 mins by train from London St Pancras International (adjoined with London Kings Cross). Taxis are available on arrival at Harpenden station. Rothamsted Enterprises is approximately 10 minutes’ walk from the station.
By Air: The closest international airports are Luton, Heathrow and Stansted.
From Luton, take the coach to Luton Airport Parkway train station and take the train line direct to Harpenden. Luton Airport is 20 mins from Rothamsted Enterprises.
From Heathrow take a Piccadilly Line underground train towards Cockfosters to St Pancras International and take the train line direct to Harpenden.
From Stansted, travel by train into London and then onto St Pancras International, and then follow travel by train to Harpenden.
Alternatively, take the coach from Stansted to Luton Airport, take the bus to Luton Airport Parkway train station, then take the train to Harpenden.
London Heathrow and London Stansted airports are approximately an hour’s drive from Rothamsted Enterprises (dependent on traffic conditions).
London Gatwick Airport is a 1-hour 15mins train journey from Harpenden station.
Parking: There is plenty of free parking at Rothamsted Enterprises. Please follow the signs for visitor’s car parking.
Please report to the Conference Centre reception on arrival unless otherwise directed.
There is no accommodation available at Rothamsted. So please make your own accommodation arrangements.

CFA Annual Dinner – Transport to hotel after dinner
We will be holding our annual dinner at the conference centre on the evening of Wednesday 1st April. For those joining us for this dinner, we will arrange travel from the Conference Centre to the above hotels after the dinner, and again to return you to the conference centre in the morning of Thursday, 2nd April. Timings for this travel will be confirmed closer to the event.
Registration for tickets will close on 15th March 2019.
Refunds are available up to 7 days prior to the event, unfortunately after this time we can no longer accept refunds on cancellations.
