We are delighted to see the Cool Farm Alliance growing and welcome our new members that have joined in August 2020.
Cayuga Marketing, LLC is a collective of 29 dairy farm owners located in the scenic Finger Lakes region of Central New York. The farm owners strive for profitability by producing the highest quality milk through stringent standards of animal care, sound environmental practices, good human resource practices, and leadership in the community. “Cayuga Marketing’s farms are committed to authentic environmental stewardship through sound practices, innovation, and integrity. Measuring carbon output is one more step that we can take to encourage best and progressive practices.” says Organizational Development Manager Julia Smith. In August, the cooperative has joined the Cool Farm Alliance to achieve the goal of calculating, understanding and mitigating carbon emissions within their member farms.
The Illinois Corn Growers Association is a grassroots not-for-profit membership organization with over 4,000 members. ICGA is heavily involved in conservation issues with a strong focus on water quality, soil health, and greenhouse gas emissions. A partial list of our current activities include:
- Investing over $1M per year over the last 4 years in support of water quality-, soil health-, and climate mitigation-related resource issues.
-
Founding partner of the Precision Conservation Management program, launched in 2015
-
Charter member of the Illinois Sustainable Ag Partnership (www.ilsustainableag.org) whose mission is to create a network to support a systems approach to improving soil health and reducing nutrient loss.
-
Established a free, anonymous water testing program, making portable nitrate sensors available for use by Soil and Water Conservation Districts in 16 counties across Illinois.
By joining the Cool Farm Alliance, IL Corn will use the Cool Farm Tool to help implement their environment conservation activities.
The Cool Farm Alliance and Proagrica share the same vision of using agricultural data and resources to secure food and nutrition for a steadily growing global population while protecting our planet’s future health. Thus, it is not surprising that the organisation has joined the CFA as new member in August 2020.
Proagrica is a global provider of independent integration and data-driven software solutions, including Sirrus and Farmplan, for the agriculture and animal health industries. The aim of all of its solutions is to connect a fragmented, agribusiness value chain, and enable customers to make more informed decisions.
Proagrica already provides digital tools for agronomists and growers to optimise crop production for over 60 million Ha globally. Alistair Knott, Precision Ag Director shared its vision, “Today we help our customers to create, consume, and standardise their data, to develop performance solutions and metrics. Including sustainability as part of their productivity and profitability drivers is now key, and the Cool Farm Tool will be a great addition to this ambition.”
As a core component of many leading companies and farmers sustainability calculations, Proagrica will work with the Cool Farm Tool to combine it with the data flow from Proagrica’s crop production solutions to leverage the creation of and value from data analysis and sustainability metrics. All this will support the vision of Proagrica to create “value” from data for agriculture.
