Connect 1: Enabling the CFT to Model Whole Farm – Early Design Thoughts
Benjamin Kayatz – Methods Manager, Cool Farm Alliance; Consultant, Environmental Impact Assessment, Soil & More Impacts GmbH

The Cool Farm Tool determines product carbon footprints at farm level for individual crop or livestock products. However, to explore the full potential for emission reductions for agriculture, an assessment of the whole farm or at least the entire crop rotation is essential. Soil & More Impacts will present some of the work where we used CFT for an assessment of crop rotations and whole farm, as well as discuss issues we observed. We will also present a brief overview of different guidelines looking at the GHG Protocol. Various options already exist for an initial assessment of a whole farm or crop rotation and we will present early design thoughts on a more holistic full farm assessment. We will also host a discussion on your experiences, ideas, and requirements for the assessments of whole farm and crop rotations.

In this session, you will
• Explore different use cases for whole farm level assessments
• Hear early design thoughts for using the CFT for whole farm assessments
• Share your own experiences with whole farm assessments and discuss requirements and ideas

Connect 2: Data Asset Capitalization – How Members could Benefit from CFT Data
Speakers:

Davide Ceper – VP Open Farm & Field Data Exchange, Yara
Stephen Hearn – Founder, Kynetec

Moderator:
Graham Mullier – Chair DevOps Committee, Cool Farm Alliance; Head Content Digitisation, CP R&D IT, Syngenta

Is there really value in data? Is data really ‘the new oil?’ In a panel session chaired by Graham Mullier (CFA DevOps Committee chair) we will hear from two leading organisations making connections across the data ecosystem. Stephen Hearn (Kynetec) will describe the Cool Farm Tool as deployed across a statistically representative 100 million acres in 48 countries for benchmarking, monitoring trends, and the prioritisation of regenerative agriculture practices by zip code. Davide Ceper (Yara and ODX) will discuss the open farm and field data exchange – ODX – being set up as a neutral broker ‘clearinghouse’ to enable greater transparency in global agriculture and food supply chains. The panel will discuss trends in data asset capitalisation and explore opportunities for CFA members to gain more value from their data.

Connect 3: Beef Module – What’s New and What’s Next
Jon Alcock – Sustainable Development Director, Viresco Solutions
Hugh Martineau – Head of Sustainability, Map of AgThis session will ask the critical question as to whether and how the beef module should evolve to an integrated management and assessment tool with deeper analytical capabilities. Hugh and Jon will describe common findings from using the CFT with UK and Canadian beef producers to influence on-farm management changes, including critical updates that have been made to the module, its limitations, and future potential. Members will be encouraged to interact and describe their objectives and needs for the beef module.
Connect 4: Cool Farm Tool Demo–CFT 101
Claire Lewis – Advisor, Cool Farm Alliance

In this session, we will model example cases for livestock and own produced feed items, and simulate possible scenarios of decision making in a live demo of the Cool Farm Tool. This shows interactive nature of the tool and the significance of regenerative agriculture practices in terms of GHG emissions reductions.
